The Dallas Cowboys are widely expected to prioritize defense with their early picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, a compelling offensive prospect could tempt them to break from that plan and bolster their front line instead.

While many analysts predict a defensive-heavy start for Dallas, the team's pre-draft activities tell a different story. Their list of official visits includes several offensive players, signaling a potential pivot. One name generating quiet buzz is Iowa's interior offensive lineman, Beau Stephens, a player many consider one of the draft's most underrated talents.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Stephens recently visited The Star in Frisco. Currently ranked 101st on the Consensus Big Board, Stephens' value may not be reflected in his public stock. Our own Ryan Roberts highlights him as one of the premier zone blockers in this class, a scheme fit that could be perfect for Dallas's offensive philosophy.

"Playing on a talented Iowa offensive line, Beau Stephens was one of the more underrated offensive linemen in all of college football the last two seasons," Roberts explains. "That underrated feel has carried over to the draft process."

Roberts praises Stephens' smoothness, balance, and technical control when moving in space, calling him an efficient and tenacious blocker. "There is always a strain to finish from Stephens, showing great intent to block to the echo of the whistle," he adds. While a lack of elite length presents a challenge, Stephens' refined hand technique and consistency project him as a future starter or, at minimum, a high-level swing interior lineman.

For a Cowboys team that prides itself on a dominant offensive line, adding a technically sound, under-the-radar competitor like Stephens could be a savvy move. It’s a reminder that in the draft, the best value isn't always found at the top of the board.
