Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany is known for keeping his composure through just about any situation.
During halftime of his team’s 4-3 comeback victory over Mainz 05, though, the manager let all of his frustrations out per quotes compiled by Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). Leon Goretzka had already given us a minor spoiler as to what went on, but now we know it was quite the scene:
Jonas Urbig on Vincent Kompany’s reaction in the dressing room at halftime against Mainz: “The coach was furious and rightly so.”
Harry Kane: “He had some strong words for us, which I won’t go into, but he was absolutely right. He had the right to tell us it wasn’t good enough.”
Leon Goretzka: “We got a real dressing down at halftime, but then we focused on what makes us strong.”
Christoph Freund: “Our coach made it very clear that we can’t perform like that, that we have to get into duels, that we have to present ourselves like Bayern Munich, the way we’ve presented ourselves in recent months.”
This season has not given Kompany too many reasons to unload on his team, but when he needs to, the coach definitely has some rage holstered. That is not such a bad thing for a head coach — especially if the results of an outburst yield a win like Bayern Munich had on Saturday.
