Jim Schlossnagle may have his own version of events regarding his move to Texas after Texas A&M's trip to the College World Series in 2024. However, Texas A&M didn't seem interested in hearing his perspective; they simply have no desire for him.
Schlossnagle was appointed head baseball coach of the Texas Longhorns on June 25, 2024, in a rather dramatic turn of events. He accepted the position just one day after Texas A&M's season came to an end with a loss to Tennessee in Game 3 of the College World Series championship series.

The timing was particularly controversial because, the day before accepting the Texas job, he had told a reporter who inquired about the rumors, "I took the job at Texas A&M to never take another job again."
