As Texas Tech football spring game approaches on April 17, Joey McGuire, Shiel Wood, Mack Leftwich discuss team strengths, what's left to do.

As the Texas Tech Red Raiders approach their annual spring game this Friday, April 17th, the energy in Lubbock is palpable. With the final two practices of spring drills on the horizon, head coach Joey McGuire and his staff are taking stock of a productive month, identifying key strengths and standout performers that have Red Raider fans buzzing.

Coach McGuire has pinpointed several areas where the team looks formidable. He's particularly excited about the development of a stout run defense, an improved offensive line, and a dynamic rushing attack. "I think we've got a really good run defense," McGuire stated, highlighting impactful additions like Adam Trick, Trey White, and Bryce Butler. "On the other side of the ball, we're better in the offensive line, and we can run the football. We've got two big-time backs that have had great springs."

Those "big-time backs" are a major reason for optimism. Cameron Dickey, last season's third-leading rusher in the Big 12 with 1,124 yards and 14 touchdowns, returns to anchor the ground game. He's complemented by the versatile J'Koby Williams, a Paul Hornung Award finalist who terrorized defenses with his ability to contribute as a runner, receiver, and return specialist.

Adding to the team's reliability is the return of Lou Groza Award semifinalist Stone Harrington, providing a steady and proven leg in the kicking game. As the Red Raiders put the finishing touches on their preparation at the Womble Football Center, the focus now shifts to the showcase at Jones AT&T Stadium. The spring game will offer the first public glimpse of whether these spring standouts can translate their practice-field prowess into on-field success for the fall campaign.
