Selection Sunday brought exciting news for Texas State softball, as the Bobcats secured an at-large bid to the 2026 NCAA tournament. They'll head to the Gainesville regional, where they'll face a formidable group featuring No. 6 Florida, Florida A&M, and Georgia Tech. Texas State will kick off the regional against Georgia Tech, setting the stage for a thrilling postseason run.

The Bobcats enter the tournament with a solid 38-20 record, including a 16-8 mark in Sun Belt play. While they fell short in the Sun Belt Championship game on Saturday night, losing to South Alabama, their overall resume speaks volumes. Texas State notched impressive wins over Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Clemson, helping them secure a final RPI ranking of 31. Finishing third in the Sun Belt regular season, they also recorded key series victories against South Alabama and Louisiana-Monroe, proving their mettle against tough competition.

Florida, the regional host, boasts a stellar 48-10 record and ranks fifth in RPI. The Gators tied for second in the SEC regular season, showcasing their dominance in one of college softball's toughest conferences. Georgia Tech, meanwhile, comes in at 30-27 and finished ninth in the ACC regular season standings, making them a dangerous underdog in this regional.

This marks Texas State's 12th tournament appearance under head coach Ricci Woodard and their fourth since 2021. Notably, it's the first time since 2018 that the Bobcats will travel out of state for a regional, when they headed to California for the Los Angeles Regional. For fans and players alike, this is a chance to make history on a national stage—and you can bet the team will be repping their Texas State gear with pride every step of the way.
