The Texas Longhorns' annual spring showcase is back, but with a twist. While officially dubbed a "spring game," head coach Steve Sarkisian has clarified it will function more as a high-energy, glorified scrimmage. For the Longhorn faithful, however, this "Football Fan Day" remains a massive event—the final opportunity to see the squad in person before the team charges into the fall season.
After a one-year hiatus, Athletic Director Chris Del Conte announced the event's return in February. Coach Sarkisian explained the format shift, noting the challenges of staging a full-scale Orange-White game in today's landscape. "We'll modify it. It will still be entertaining, I think, for the fans," Sarkisian said. "Ideally, I would love to play a game... but we just aren't able to do it." The primary concerns are roster depth and injury risk, especially with valuable players now navigating the NIL era, making a traditional game less feasible.
While the on-field action won't be a true game with a winner and loser, Sarkisian promises a competitive scrimmage that will give fans a crucial glimpse at the team's development and new talent. For supporters, the day is about more than just football—it's a full Texas Football experience.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 18th at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The fan festivities kick off early, with gates opening at 10 a.m. The main scrimmage action is set for the afternoon. Please note: there will be no live television or streaming broadcast of the scrimmage itself. However, the Longhorns Network will stream a postgame show after the event concludes, offering analysis and highlights.

• 9:30 a.m. - Photo opportunities with Bevo XV and Smokey the Cannon
