The Texas Longhorns' backcourt is taking a major hit. Sophomore guard Jordan Lee, the team's second-leading scorer and most prolific three-point shooter, has entered the NCAA transfer portal, marking a significant departure for Vic Schaefer's program.
Lee, a 6'0" McDonald's All-American from California, leaves after a standout sophomore campaign where she averaged 13.2 points per game. Her shooting prowess was a rare and critical weapon for a Longhorns squad that ranked near the very bottom nationally in three-point attempts. Lee alone accounted for over 42% of the team's attempts from deep and connected on a team-leading 72 three-pointers.
Her departure amplifies a concerning trend in Austin, as she becomes the fourth Texas player to enter the portal this week, joining forwards Justice Carlton and Aaliyah Moore, and guard Aaliyah Crump. With two seasons of eligibility remaining, Lee's combination of proven scoring and elite shooting range will make her one of the most sought-after guards in the transfer market.
This move creates a substantial void for Texas, which must now find a way to replace its primary perimeter threat and a player who logged heavy minutes in big games, including a 16-point performance in last season's Final Four against South Carolina.
