When opportunity knocks, Sawyer Farr is answering the door—and turning double plays along the way.

The Texas A&M sophomore infielder is making the most of his increased role in the starting lineup, stepping up big for the Aggies during a stretch plagued by injuries. In Friday night's series opener against Ole Miss, Farr showed exactly why he's earned the starting nod at second base.

With head coach Michael Earley forced to shuffle the lineup due to injuries to key players like Nico Partida, Boston Kellner, and Chris Hacopian, the Fort Worth, Texas native has seized his moment. Farr turned two critical double plays against the Rebels, snuffing out potential rallies and keeping the game within reach.

It's been a season of adjustment for the former Perfect Game No. 3 shortstop in the 2025 class. After a solid freshman campaign where he made 31 starts in 39 appearances, drove in four runs, walked 17 times, and went a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts, Farr saw his playing time dip this year with the arrival of Maryland transfer Chris Hacopian.

Through nine starts—including just his second in SEC play—Farr is batting .258 with eight hits and seven RBIs. But it's his glove that's been the real story. Through 15 appearances, he boasts a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, providing a steady presence in the infield while Hacopian recovers and serves as the designated hitter.

There's still room for growth at the plate, but Farr already contributed one of the Aggies' three runs in Game 1 against Ole Miss. As the injury bug continues to bite, expect to see more of this sophomore making the most of every chance he gets.
