After a tough Saturday doubleheader, Texas A&M showed exactly what they're made of on Sunday. The Aggies' 4-3 victory over Auburn might not have won them the series, but in the unforgiving SEC, it was the kind of bounce-back win that keeps a season on track.
Head coach Michael Earley knew his team needed to reset quickly. "We talk about it all the time—yes, there's a series for sure. We didn't win the series at home, and we always want to do that. But it's about grabbing those wins when you can. We had to grab one today."
The message was simple: resilience matters. And no one embodied that better than Chris Hacopian. Playing through an injury, he delivered a three-run homer that gave the Aggies the breathing room they needed. "Honestly, the biggest part is that I got to score three runs for the team in that moment," Hacopian said. "That ended up being a big swing for the game. I'm just thankful it worked out."
On the mound, Weston Moss stepped up in his second Sunday start since moving from the Saturday rotation. Some might see that as a step back, but Moss took it as a chance to compete. "I'm enjoying it. Towing the rubber is the same no matter what day it is. I just don't think much about it. Compete."
That competitive edge was exactly what A&M needed to hold off Auburn late and avoid a sweep. In a conference where every win is precious, this one kept the Aggies firmly in the SEC race with crucial series still ahead.
Next up: Texas A&M hosts Prairie View on May 5 at 6 p.m. at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park—another chance to keep building momentum.
