According to On3's Chad Simmons, Texas A&M has "carried momentum" to eventually land productive 2027 3-star DL Segun Alexander.

Texas A&M is making serious waves in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and the momentum is building fast. Head coach Mike Elko and his staff are turning their full attention to the next generation of talent, starting with a major commitment announcement from five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews. The Aggies are also hosting elite prospects like five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson and John Meredith, with a clear focus on adding another blue-chip defensive back to the roster.

On the defensive line, new position coach Elijah Robinson is already making his mark since returning to the program this offseason. His impact was felt immediately with the commitment of five-star edge rusher Zyron Forstall, the highest-rated player in Texas A&M's 2027 class. But the Aggies aren't stopping there.

According to On3 insider Chad Simmons, rising three-star defensive lineman Segun Alexander has emerged as a favorite to join the Aggies. Alexander recently reclassified from the 2028 class to 2027, and his spring visit to College Station was a game-changer. "That trip helped spark the reclassification conversation, and A&M has carried momentum since," Simmons reported. Alexander joins an already loaded defensive line haul that includes four-star commitments from Myels Smith, Elijah Patmon, and ascending edge rusher Kaden McCarty.

Don't let the three-star rating fool you—Alexander is expected to rise to four-star status by fall. The 6'2", 280-pound disruptor put up eye-popping numbers last season: 36 tackles, 12 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. His relentless play style and build draw comparisons to current freshman defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright, who is expected to see the field in 2026.

Currently ranked as the 63rd defensive lineman and 72nd overall prospect in Georgia by Rivals, Alexander is a name to watch. With the Aggies' recruiting momentum showing no signs of slowing down, this could be the start of something special in College Station.
