Texas A&M's injury woes continue, as freshman SS Boston Kellner is officially out for Saturday's doubeheader vs. Ole Miss.

The injury bug continues to bite Texas A&M baseball, and it's hitting the Aggies where it hurts most—the lineup.

No. 7 Texas A&M (36-11, 15-9 SEC) was already navigating a tough stretch heading into Saturday's doubleheader against Ole Miss. Freshman third baseman Nico Partida has been sidelined for a third straight game after a hamstring injury against Auburn last weekend, robbing the team of one of its top bats and most reliable gloves. Meanwhile, Maryland transfer Chris Hacopian has been limited to DH duties due to ongoing injury issues.

But the bad news didn't stop there. On Friday night, freshman shortstop Boston Kellner—who had started every game this season—was hit in the face by a pitch. The incident was eerily similar to the scary facial injury Hacopian suffered against LSU earlier this year.

While head coach Mike Earley hasn't released specifics on Kellner's condition, the freshman is officially listed as out for Saturday's doubleheader, leaving another gap in the starting nine. With Kellner out, expect Sawyer Farr and Travis Chesnut to handle duties at second base and shortstop, with Ben Royo also in the mix as a potential option.

Kellner's .248/.432/.418 slash line may be the lowest among starters, but his impact goes beyond the box score. His .927 fielding percentage has been a steady presence in the infield, and in a tight SEC matchup, every ground ball and double-play turn matters.

First pitch for the doubleheader opener is set for 2:00 p.m. CT in Oxford. The Aggies will need to dig deep into their bench if they hope to keep pace in the conference race.
