After securing the program's first sweep on the road against the LSU Tigers since 1978, Texas A&M baseball's RPI is on the rise.
In the latest college baseball RPI ranking, which is the mathematical formula used by the NCAA based on wins, losses and strength of schedule, the Aggies are at No. 8. The Aggies have wins over three teams in the top 25 of the RPI, including a series victory over the Texas Longhorns in the Lone Star Showdown. With a 12-5 record in conference play, Texas A&M is in second place in the current SEC standings, behind the Georgia Bulldogs (13-5).
This season has marked an impressive turnaround for second-year head coach Michael Earley, following a 2025 campaign that ended without a postseason appearance. The Aggies failed to reach expectations from being selected as the unanimous No. 1 team in college baseball during the preseason, but this year has been a completely different story.
Even with hard-hitting bats like Jace LaViolette, Kaeden Kent and Wyatt Hensler departing for the MLB Draft last summer, Earley's lineup has improved into one of the most explosive groups of hitters in baseball. The Aggies are ranked third in the league with a .312 batting average and 80 home runs so far this season.
There is still much baseball left on the schedule, including four series against teams currently inside the top 25 of the RPI. Texas A&M faces UTSA on Tuesday at 3 p.m. CT, before traveling to Gainesville, Florida, for an SEC series against the Gators this weekend.
