The Houston Texans need a center and perhaps the best prospect will be in play for the franchise somewhere on Day 2.

According to KPRC 2 Sports' Aaron Wilson, Auburn center Connor Lew visited the Texans earlier this week. Lew, who at one point was viewed as a potential Day 1 pick, has been making a speedy recovery from a torn ACL suffered in October against Missouri.

A team captain and two-year starter with the Tigers, Lew has been regarded as athletic and quick, and strong at the point of attack and capable of getting to the second level. He's a stout run blocker with the capabilities of improving in pass protection against faster defensive tackles.

Last month at the NFL Combine, he bench pressed 225 pounds 31 times, the most of any center. He met with teams at Auburn's Pro Day, and while he didn't test, teams were given the boost of confidence that he would be cleared for workouts in August when training camp begins.

At 6-foot-3 and coming in at 310 pounds, Lew is regarded as a plug-and-play type who should make a smooth transition to the NFL once he’s fully healthy again.
