Draymond Green made a highly anticipated return to Inside the NBA on Wednesday, and it didn't take long for the tension to boil over between the Golden State Warriors star and the show's iconic host, Charles Barkley.

The awkward moment came midway through the pregame show ahead of ESPN's broadcast of Game 2 between the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks. The conversation shifted to Green's future with the Warriors, and Barkley didn't hold back.

"It's over for the Warriors," Barkley said bluntly. "No disrespect. It is for every old team. You have your run, you get old… it just passed you by. Y'all had one of the greatest runs ever."

Green, ever the competitor, acknowledged the uncertainty of his team's future but clearly bristled at Barkley's pessimistic take. As the back-and-forth escalated, Green fired back with a pointed jab at Barkley's own late-career struggles.

"I think the goal is just to not look like you in the Houston Rockets uniform," Green said with a smirk.

The comment landed hard. Barkley offered only a meek "yeah" in response and remained notably silent for the rest of the segment—a rare moment of quiet from the usually outspoken Hall of Famer.

Sports media analyst Jon Lewis noted that the exchange carried a sharper edge than the usual good-natured ribbing between Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal on the show. "Barkley's criticisms aren't *usually* intended to be insulting (there are definitely exceptions). But Draymond's retorts have that personal aspect," Lewis wrote on X.

This isn't the first time Green's unfiltered commentary has sparked controversy. During last year's NBA All-Star weekend, he criticized the game's format and mocked LeBron James for not participating, drawing widespread backlash—including from Barkley himself.

As the Warriors navigate an uncertain future, one thing is clear: when Draymond Green steps into the broadcast booth, the sparks are guaranteed to fly.
