Tennessee Lady Vols softball fans have another reason to celebrate, as senior pitcher Karlyn Pickens has been named to the 2026 SEC Community Service Team. The league office announced the honor on Wednesday, which recognizes one student-athlete from each SEC school for outstanding community contributions.
Pickens has made a significant impact both on and off the field. Her volunteer work spans the Knoxville area, where she's been a familiar face at Lonsdale Elementary School, helping out with physical education classes. She's also supported the Special Olympics, empowering local athletes, and dedicated time to youth-focused organizations like the Emerald Youth Foundation and Girls, Inc., fostering mentorship and development opportunities for young people.
Beyond these efforts, Pickens has participated in community events such as the Community Holiday Meal and Voloween, showing her commitment to giving back year-round. Her service extends beyond the diamond, but she's also shined in the classroom—earning 2025 College Sports Communicators All-America second-team honors and being a two-time CSC Academic All-District selection. She's also made the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll and the 2022-23 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.
This recognition adds to a standout season for Pickens, who was recently selected No. 1 overall in the Carolina softball draft. Whether she's striking out batters or inspiring the next generation, Pickens continues to represent Tennessee with excellence.
