Alabama football receives a commitment from a Tennessee legacy prospect.

In a move that adds fuel to one of the SEC's most storied rivalries, a Tennessee football legacy prospect has committed to Alabama. On Monday, 2027 four-star linebacker Kenneth Simon II announced his pledge to the Crimson Tide, choosing them over the Vols, Georgia, and Ole Miss.

Simon II, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound standout from Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee, is making waves in the recruiting world. According to 247Sports, he's ranked as the No. 7 linebacker in the class of 2027 and the No. 6 overall player in Tennessee. His father, Kevin Simon, played for the Volunteers from 2001 to 2005, making this decision a particularly tough one for Tennessee fans.

The Vols offered Simon II a scholarship on May 12, and he made eight unofficial visits to Knoxville. However, Alabama's pitch ultimately won out. Purdue was the first school to offer him a scholarship, but the list of suitors grew quickly, including Kentucky, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Nebraska, Auburn, SMU, Virginia Tech, Liberty, Tulane, Memphis, Southern Miss, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Indiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Florida State.

Despite this loss, Tennessee's 2027 recruiting class is already taking shape with seven commitments: linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, defensive lineman Kadin Fife, quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, and defensive back Carter Jamison. With a strong foundation in place, the Vols will look to build momentum as they continue to recruit future stars for Rocky Top.
