Tennessee guard Ethan Burg is heading home. The Israeli guard announced via Instagram on April 17 that he will return to his native country after one season with the Volunteers, concluding his brief but memorable stint in Knoxville.

In a heartfelt post, Burg expressed his gratitude to Vol Nation, writing, "Thank you for welcoming me, a guy from halfway across the world, and making Rocky Top feel like home sweet home from my very first day." He extended thanks to the coaches, staff, and his teammates, highlighting the special bonds formed during the season.

The 6-foot-3 guard brought professional experience from the Israeli Basketball Super League, where he was an All-Star, to Tennessee's backcourt. During his time as a Vol, Burg appeared in 31 games, averaging 2.5 points and 1.1 assists while shooting 44.3% from the field. After seeing his role diminish early in SEC play, he fought his way back into the rotation in February, logging double-digit minutes in nine of the team's final 13 games.

His departure underscores the ever-changing landscape of college basketball rosters. "Although I've made the difficult decision to return home to Israel to be closer to my family, I'll always be proud to be a Tennessee Volunteer," Burg stated, signing off with a "Go Big Orange!"

With Burg's exit, the Vols' returning backcourt picture becomes clearer, though the team's final composition for the 2025-26 season still hinges on key decisions, most notably the NBA draft choice of star forward Nate Ament.
