The Tennessee Volunteers are making serious noise in the SEC. After taking Game 1 of their weekend series against No. 4 Texas, the Vols came back on Saturday and delivered a powerful statement, winning Game 2 by a score of 14-9 and clinching the series victory at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

It was a slugfest from the first pitch. Texas struck first when Temo Becerra launched a two-run homer off Vols starter Evan Blanco in the top of the first. But Blanco settled in and showed real grit, pitching seven full innings. He threw 111 pitches—71 for strikes—and racked up eight strikeouts while allowing seven hits and five earned runs.

What happened next was pure Tennessee power. The Vols didn't just answer the Longhorns' early punch—they swung back with authority. Reese Chapman, Blake Grimmer, Trent Grindlinger, Stone Lawless, Manny Marin, and Garrett Wright all went deep, turning the game into a home run derby that the home crowd won't soon forget.

With this win, Tennessee improves to 34-17 overall and 13-13 in SEC play. Texas, meanwhile, drops to 36-12 and 15-10 in conference action. The series finale is set for Sunday, May 10, at noon EDT, and will be broadcast on ESPN2. After taking Friday's opener 5-1 and Saturday's slugfest, the Vols will look for the sweep.
