Tennessee baseball signee leads Oak Ridge to state tournament.

On a thrilling Thursday evening at Bobby Hopkins Field, Oak Ridge High School punched their ticket to the TSSAA Class 4A state tournament for the third year in a row, defeating Dobyns-Bennett 5-3 in Game 2 of their sectional series. The Wildcats swept the best-of-three matchup, 2-0, and are now set to chase championship glory on the state's biggest stage.

Leading the charge was none other than Tennessee baseball signee Michael Teasley, who delivered a performance worthy of his growing reputation. The senior pitcher tossed a complete game, allowing just three runs (two earned) on six hits while issuing only two walks. But the stat that truly jumps off the page? A remarkable 13 strikeouts that had opposing batters swinging at air all night.

Teasley wasn't just dominant on the mound—he also made his presence felt at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a triple and scoring a run. It's the kind of two-way excellence that has made him one of the most exciting prospects in Tennessee high school baseball.

The future Vol signed with Tennessee on January 28 after committing in October 2024, and he's been living up to the hype ever since. A senior pitcher and third baseman for the Wildcats, Teasley was recently named District 4-4A Pitcher of the Year by league coaches and earned First-Team All-District honors. His trophy case also includes the 2025 Tennessee Mr. Baseball award, and he's a finalist for the same honor in 2026.

This latest postseason gem is just another chapter in what has been a remarkable high school career. Teasley has now led Oak Ridge to three consecutive state tournament appearances, and his dominance on the rubber is a big reason why. As a junior in 2025, he was named District 3-4A Player of the Year and earned All-State recognition from the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.

With Teasley leading the way, the Wildcats are heading to the state tournament with momentum, confidence, and a pitcher who looks ready to take the mound for the Vols in the near future. For Tennessee baseball fans, the future is bright—and it starts right here in Oak Ridge.
