Tennessee baseball will be without starting pitcher Landon Mack for the second straight game, as the sophomore right-hander has been ruled out of the Volunteers' series finale against Oklahoma on May 16 due to persistent arm soreness.
Mack, who transferred from Rutgers this season, last took the mound on April 26 against Kentucky, where he delivered one of his strongest outings of the year—six innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts. However, he missed his scheduled start against Texas on May 10 and has been day-to-day since, according to head coach Josh Elander.
"He's been moving around, which is a good sign," Elander said after Tennessee's midweek win over Belmont. "He's been playing catch. Him and I just talked in the dugout pregame."
The Vols (36-18, 14-14 SEC) have not yet announced who will take the mound in the regular-season finale against Oklahoma (31-10, 13-15). The game is set to begin approximately 45 minutes after the completion of Game 2, which resumes in the seventh inning at 2 p.m. ET after being suspended due to weather.
Mack has been a reliable arm for Tennessee this season, posting a 4.67 ERA over 61.2 innings across 12 starts. His absence is a notable blow as the Vols look to close out the regular season on a strong note and build momentum heading into postseason play.
