History was made in Toronto on Tuesday night as the expansion Tempo captured their first-ever franchise victory, defeating the Seattle Storm 86-73 in a thrilling home opener. Marina Mabrey led the charge with a spectacular 26-point performance, drilling six 3-pointers and electrifying the crowd with her shooting prowess.

The game turned in the third quarter when Toronto unleashed a decisive 18-6 run, turning a tight contest into a 65-56 lead. Mabrey and Maria Conde were the catalysts, combining for 14 points in the period. The momentum carried into the fourth quarter, where Mabrey scored eight points in the first six minutes, including two jaw-dropping 3-pointers just a minute apart—the second coming from near the logo—to push the lead to 81-71. Seattle managed just one field goal in the final six minutes as the Tempo defense clamped down.

Brittney Sykes stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, while Conde provided a spark off the bench with 16 points. Rookie Kiki Rice, the Tempo's first-round draft pick, added 12 points in a promising performance for Toronto (1-1).

Seattle concludes its three-game road trip at Indiana on Sunday, while Toronto hits the road for back-to-back games against Los Angeles, starting Friday.
