It was an emotional and triumphant evening for Oak Ridge High School tennis, as the program honored its seniors before delivering a commanding 7-2 victory over Clinton High School. The Jackson Square Tennis & Pickleball Facility was filled with pride during the Senior Night ceremony, celebrating five key players from the Wildcat and Lady Wildcat teams.
The heartfelt moment brought tears to Coach Joanne Bowman's eyes as she addressed the crowd. Reflecting on the seniors' impact, she shared, "Coach and I are going to miss their laughter, exemplary sportsmanship during competition, and leadership on the practice courts." For Coach Bowman, the connection runs deep—having taught two of the seniors in her science class back in 2019, this farewell marked the end of a significant chapter.
Following the emotional ceremony, the Wildcats channeled that energy into a dominant performance on the court. The senior class led the charge, with Wyatt Arline, Billy Bennett, and Colin McVay each securing crucial singles victories. The teamwork continued in doubles, where Bennett partnered with junior Ian Stier for a flawless 8-0 win, while the duo of McVay and Arline clinched a tight 8-5 match. Stier also shone in singles, posting an impressive 8-1 victory.
The win was a full-team effort, capped off by sophomore Dawson Watson and freshman Daniel Belooussov, who secured the final point with another 8-5 doubles win. It was a perfect send-off for the seniors—a night of celebration, reflection, and a decisive victory that highlights the strength and camaraderie built through seasons of dedication on the court.
