Burton Albion have announced the departure of six players following their latest escape from League One relegation, with forward Fabio Tavares headlining the list of those leaving the Pirelli Stadium.

Tavares, 25, played a crucial role in the Brewers' survival efforts for the second consecutive season. After initially joining on loan from Coventry City to help keep the club in the third tier last year, he signed a permanent one-year deal and repaid that faith with eight goals in 35 appearances during the 2025-26 campaign. His final contribution came in dramatic fashion—scoring on the last day of the season in a draw against Leyton Orient that helped secure Burton's safety.

Joining Tavares out the door are defenders Jasper Moon and Geraldo Bajrami, midfielder James Jones, and teenage duo Jack Newall and Josh Taroni, both 19.

Moon's time at Burton has been defined by clutch moments. The defender initially arrived on loan from Barnsley in January 2023 under manager Dino Maamria, helping the club stave off relegation, and he scored his first and only goal for the Brewers in a crucial draw with Exeter City that ultimately sealed their League One status.

For James Jones, it was a frustrating spell. The 30-year-old midfielder managed just four appearances after arriving from Wrexham last season, with a serious knee injury limiting his impact before he failed to reclaim his place in the squad this term.

Bajrami, 26, made his last appearance for Burton back in August before spending the remainder of the campaign on loan at League Two side Crawley Town. Meanwhile, both Newall and Taroni saw out their contracts while gaining experience away from the club—Newell at non-league Alfreton and Taroni at Spalding United.

As Burton Albion look to rebuild for another season of survival battles, these departures signal a clear reset in the squad as they prepare for the challenges ahead in League One.
