The District 1-3A championships at Pine Forest High School delivered high drama this weekend, with the Tate Aggies girls and Navarre Raiders boys track and field teams sprinting and jumping their way to coveted district titles.
In a thrilling team battle, the Tate girls secured the championship with 133.5 points, holding off a strong challenge from host Pine Forest, which finished second with 111.5 points. The victory marks a special milestone for first-year head coach Paul Bryan, a longtime figure in the local track scene who previously led Pine Forest.
On the boys' side, the Navarre Raiders dominated the competition, amassing 154 points to claim the title. Their performance dethroned the defending champion Pace Patriots, who finished a distant second with 102 points, showcasing the Raiders' impressive depth and talent across multiple events.
With the district meet in the books, the focus now shifts to the next stage of the postseason. The top two finishers in each event have automatically punched their tickets to the Region 1-3A championship, which will be held back at Pine Forest on May 2. They will be joined by the next eight best performers from qualifying meets across the region, setting the stage for an even more intense showdown.
For the athletes advancing, every millisecond and centimeter will count as they compete for a chance to move on to the state finals. It's the kind of high-stakes competition where the right gear—from spikes to performance apparel—can make all the difference in reaching the podium.
