The LSU Tigers and Will Wade have landed their third player in the past two days, securing a commitment from shooting guard Abdi Bashir Jr.

The LSU Tigers are heating up on the recruiting trail, and head coach Will Wade just added another sharpshooter to his 2026-27 roster. Abdi Bashir Jr., a talented shooting guard transferring from Kansas State, has committed to LSU, according to Draft Express's Jonathan Givony. This marks the third commitment for the Tigers in just two days, following international big man Marcio Santos and Michigan State point guard Divine Ugochukwu, who pledged on Thursday. With Kentucky transfer Mouhamed Dioubate already in the fold, LSU now has four players locked in for next season.

Bashir brings serious firepower from beyond the arc. In his lone season with Kansas State, he started 18 games and averaged 13.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. But his real weapon is his shooting: he knocked down an impressive 44.4% of his three-pointers on a hefty 8.4 attempts per game, while also shooting 42.1% from the field and 68.8% from the free-throw line. At 6-foot-7 and 175 pounds, he has the size to create mismatches on the perimeter.

There's one caveat to watch: Bashir didn't play after January 17 due to a foot injury that required surgery. As he enters his final year of eligibility, his health will be a key storyline as he integrates into LSU's system. Still, his track record speaks volumes. He began his college career at Monmouth, where he was a rotation player as a freshman before exploding as a sophomore. In the 2024-25 season, he earned All-CAA First Team honors, averaging 20.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while shooting 37.7% from the field and 38.3% from deep.

Ranked as the No. 130 overall player and No. 21 shooting guard in the transfer portal by 247Sports, Bashir is a major pickup for LSU. While the Tigers' transfer class is currently ranked 41st nationally, their average player rating of 91.0 is the 18th best in the country—a sign that quality is trumping quantity. With Wade's roster starting to take shape, LSU fans have plenty of reason to be excited about the sharpshooting addition.
