Syracuse women's lacrosse continues to build its legacy, and this week, the ACC recognized one of its brightest stars. The conference announced its 2026 season awards on Wednesday, and Orange netminder Dan Guyette was named ACC Goalie of the Year—a well-deserved honor for a player who has been nothing short of sensational between the pipes.
The award, determined by a vote of the league's 13 head coaches, honors the top performer at each major position, along with the freshman and coach of the year. Guyette stood alone as Syracuse's lone recipient, but her impact has been felt across the entire program. Anchoring one of the nation's stingiest defenses, she helped guide the Orange to a 13-5 record in their 13th season in the ACC.
This marks just the second time a Syracuse player has earned this accolade, following Delaney Sweitzer's win in 2023. Guyette's numbers tell the story of a truly dominant season: a 7.81 goals-against average, a .461 save percentage, 118 saves, 38 ground balls, and eight caused turnovers. Both her GAA and save percentage ranked second in the ACC, while her GAA stood as the seventh-best mark nationally—all achieved against one of the toughest schedules in the country.
But the stats only scratch the surface. Guyette has a knack for rising to the occasion when the stakes are highest. Against ranked opponents this season, she elevated her game even further, posting a 7.27 goals-against average and a .509 save percentage. That clutch performance earned her ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors twice, as well as a spot on the All-ACC First Team. She was also recently named one of the 25 Tewaaraton Award semifinalists, a testament to her status among the elite players in the sport.
As expected, North Carolina dominated the awards, with Chloe Humphrey taking Attacker of the Year, Eliza Osburn earning Midfielder of the Year, and Sam Forrest winning Defender of the Year. Clemson's Alexa Spallina was named Freshman of the Year, while Stanford's Danielle Spencer claimed Coach of the Year honors.
For Syracuse fans, Guyette's recognition is a bright spot in a season filled with promise. As the Orange prepare for what's next, one thing is certain: with a goalie like Dan Guyette between the pipes, this team has the foundation to make some serious noise.
Congratulations, Dan—here's to more big moments ahead!
