The media have spoken, and they've got plenty of Orange to recognize. With the regular season firmly in the rearview mirror and the NCAA Tournament heating up, May brings one more important tradition: the selection of All-American teams. Late last week, both USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse unveiled their 2026 All-American rosters, honoring players from Syracuse in a big way.
USA Lacrosse kicked things off on Thursday, naming six Syracuse Orange standouts to their first, second, third, and honorable mention teams. The honorees included Joey Spallina, Luke Rhoa, Michael Leo, Riley Figueiras, Billy Dwan, and Dante Bowen. Just two days later, Inside Lacrosse followed suit with their own picks, selecting five of the same players—minus Bowen—for their All-American squads.
Here's how the two publications stacked up the 'Cuse players: Both named Spallina to the First Team, Rhoa to the Third Team, and Leo and Dwan to Honorable Mention. The biggest surprise came with Figueiras, who earned Honorable Mention from USA Lacrosse but was bumped up to Second Team by Inside Lacrosse. Bowen, meanwhile, was recognized by USA Lacrosse as Honorable Mention but didn't make the Inside Lacrosse list.
This recognition speaks volumes about the experience and leadership on this Syracuse roster. Five of the six players honored are seniors, while Bowen adds depth as a graduate student. Notably, Joey Spallina was one of just four players nationwide to earn unanimous First Team honors from Inside Lacrosse voters, joining UNC's faceoff specialist Brady Wambach, Princeton's midfielder Tucker Wade, and Army's midfielder Evan Plunkett.
Another interesting detail: Michael Leo was voted in as an attacker by USA Lacrosse but received an 'A/M' designation from Inside Lacrosse, reflecting his versatility this season. He split time between attack and midfield, so it's no surprise voters recognized him at both positions.
While this is a strong showing for the Orange, notable omissions include Finn Thomson, Johnny Mullen, and Jimmy McCool. Finn has had a productive season, but with a deep pool of talent at attack, the competition was fierce. Still, having six players earn All-American nods is a testament to the strength of this Syracuse team as they push deeper into the postseason.
