The Syracuse Orange's offseason rebuild is gaining serious momentum, and the latest piece is arriving from overseas. The program has secured a commitment from Abdramane Siby, a 7-foot center from Mali who currently plays professionally for BC Mega Superbet in Serbia.
This marks the second international prospect to join head coach Gerry McNamara's incoming class, following Slovenian wing Mark Morano Mahmutovič. Siby brings a specific and exciting skillset to Upstate New York. In 20 games this season, he's averaged 3.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in just 14.4 minutes per contest.
While the stats are modest, the scouting report highlights his immediate defensive potential. DraftExpress's Jonathan Givony, who first reported the commitment, notes Siby leads the Adriatic League in block percentage, utilizing a massive 7'6" wingspan. Givony described him as a "highly impactful defender with significant long-term upside," suggesting he could develop into a formidable rim-protector for the Orange.
On paper, Siby projects as a developmental piece in the frontcourt, joining former Siena big man Tasman Goodrick as a new center on the roster. His commitment underscores McNamara's active and global approach to roster construction this offseason.
Siby is the third high school/recruit class addition, alongside Mahmutovič and four-star guard Ryan Moesch. Combined with transfers like Goodrick, former Temple guard Aiden Tobiason, and former McNeese guard Garwey Dual, the Orange are rapidly assembling a new-look squad for the upcoming season, blending international talent with experienced stateside players.
