Buccaneers fans should be #PL44SED by the news that running back Sean Tucker will be back with the team in the 2026-27 season.
Restricted free agent running back Sean Tucker to his one-year tender with the Bucs today, per the league’s daily transactions wire. He’ll make $3.52 million in 2026 and will be an unrestricted free agent next March.
Tucker had his best season as a pro last year, carrying the ball 86 times for 320 yards and 7 touchdowns while adding one more receiving touchdown. His 8 scores led Tampa as he emerged as the goal-line back for the Buccaneers.
With the addition of Kenneth Gainwell, Tucker likely remains in the #3 running back spot behind Bucky Irving so it will be interesting to see if he continues to get touches in the red zone this season. It might be tough for him to shine heading into unrestricted free agency next spring, but Tucker has erased concerns about his health that caused him to go undrafted and that could lead to opportunities to find a spot where he can get more touches.
