The national champion guard from his SU playing days returned to town after learning how to be a head coach at Siena, and he takes over for Adrian Autry.
The hope, too, was that he'd do well in the transfer portal to reload the program in a hurry.
So far, McNamara has brought two players with him from Siena: Gavin Doty and Tasman Goodrick. Doty can be a standout even at a higher level, so he's a quality pickup that had a built-in recruitment advantage.

They've also lost the likes of Donnie Freeman, Naithan George, Nate Kingz and Tyler Betsey to the transfer portal.
