When the CIF State Swimming Championship meet weekend opens with preliminaries on Friday, it might decide a title, but it figures to be the most spirited and the most competitive. Everyone has to go all-out just to reach Saturday’s finals. That goes for everybody. There are no byes, and there are no easy heats. The stage is set for an electrifying weekend at the CIF State Swimming Championships, where the best high school swimmers in California will battle for glory at Clovis West High School. Preliminaries kick off Friday at 1 p.m., and there's no room for error—every swimmer must give their all just to earn a spot in Saturday's finals. With no byes and no easy heats, this is the ultimate test of speed, endurance, and determination.

Among the local stars making waves are familiar faces from Garces, where seniors Jett Kalmikovs, Charlie Potter, and Clay Selvidge are aiming to cap their high school careers with a memorable finish. Liberty High School brings a strong contingent, including seniors Sophia Munoz-Rodriguez and Migo Armas—both bound for Cal State Bakersfield this fall alongside Garces' Potter. Junior Lucas Cuper has also been a standout for the Patriots all season.

Other local talents to watch include Bakersfield Christian sophomore Hailey Todd, who is eligible for two events, Centennial junior Faith Roberts, and Shafter High junior Sarah-Jane Osborne, who has enjoyed a standout season. With preliminaries determining who advances to the top-eight finals or top-16 consolation finals, every stroke counts.
