Spanish-language options for Super Bowl LXI next February are expanding. On Tuesday, it was reported that Disney will sublicense the Spanish-language rights for Super Bowl LXI to TelevisaUnivision’s Univision broadcast network, allowing the channel to produce its own telecast for the Big Game, according to Variety’s Brian Steinberg. Super Bowl LXI is shaping up to be a landmark event for Spanish-speaking football fans, with not one but two distinct Spanish-language broadcasts set to air next February. In a move that underscores the growing importance of bilingual sports coverage, Disney has announced it will sublicense the Spanish-language rights for the Big Game to TelevisaUnivision's Univision network. This means viewers will have the option to watch the game on both Univision and Disney's own ESPN Deportes, each producing its own dedicated telecast.

This dual-broadcast strategy is a game-changer for reaching the largest possible audience. By bringing Univision into the fold, Disney is leveraging the power of broadcast television to maximize Spanish-language viewership. With ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 already handling English-language coverage, the addition of a second Spanish-language network could be the key to pushing Super Bowl viewership to new heights. Given Disney's history of "megacasts" for college football, don't be surprised if alternate feeds pop up on ESPNEWS or ESPNU as well.

For Univision, this marks only the second time the network has aired the Super Bowl. The precedent was set in 2024, when CBS sublicensed Spanish-language rights to Univision—a natural fit since CBS lacks its own Spanish-language channel. That year, Univision contributed an impressive 2.3 million viewers to the total audience. Meanwhile, Telemundo has handled the past two Super Bowls on broadcast television, including a 2025 collaboration with Fox Deportes that established the model for multiple Spanish telecasts across cable and broadcast networks.

While Disney will be monetizing the sublicense to Univision, specific financial details remain under wraps. "We're pleased to collaborate with TelevisaUnivision to expand access to Super Bowl LXI for Spanish-speaking fans across the U.S.," said Oscar Ramos, Disney's vice president of digital content. For fans gearing up for the big game, this means more ways than ever to enjoy the action in their language of choice.
