Sunrisers Hyderabad missed out on the chance to move top of the Indian Premier League, losing by seven wickets to Kolkata Knight Riders. Having chosen to bat, Sunrisers collapsed from 105-1 to 165 all out with an over to spare. After losing Abhishek Sharma for 15, Travis Head (61) and Ishan Kishan (42) staged a second-wicket partnership of 61, before the former's removal upended Sunrisers' innings.

In a dramatic IPL showdown, Sunrisers Hyderabad saw their hopes of climbing to the top of the table dashed after a seven-wicket defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders. The match was a rollercoaster of momentum shifts, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

Opting to bat first, the Sunrisers got off to a flying start. After the early dismissal of Abhishek Sharma for just 15 runs, Travis Head and Ishan Kishan steadied the ship with a brilliant 61-run partnership. Head, in particular, looked in imperious form, smashing 61 runs off just 42 balls, while Kishan contributed a solid 42.

But just when it seemed Hyderabad was building a formidable total, the wheels came off. Head's dismissal—the first of three wickets to fall to Kolkata's leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy (3-36)—triggered a stunning collapse. From a comfortable 105-1, the Sunrisers crumbled to 165 all out, with an entire over left unused. None of the subsequent batters managed to score more than 11 runs, leaving the team well short of a competitive total.

In response, Kolkata's chase was clinical. Captain Ajinkya Rahane (43) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (59) laid the foundation with an 84-run partnership for the second wicket. Although both fell before the finish line, Rinku Singh (22) and Cameron Green (3) calmly guided the visitors home with 10 balls to spare.

The result leaves Sunrisers Hyderabad in third place with six wins from 10 matches, while Kolkata Knight Riders remain in eighth, having won just three of their nine games. For Sunrisers, this missed opportunity to seize the top spot will sting, but the tournament is far from over.
