In the world of Serie A, financial stability is just as important as on-pitch success—and a new report has revealed which clubs are leading the charge off the field. The second Global State of Football study, conducted by PLAIER AI and the University of St. Gallen, analyzed 226 clubs across 14 leagues for the 2024-25 season. It evaluated squad quality, sporting director performance, coaching effectiveness, and financial stability to paint a complete picture of how clubs are performing both financially and tactically.

When it comes to financial health, Fiorentina tops the list as Serie A's most stable club, boasting an impressive 72% equity ratio. Close behind are Atalanta and Napoli, securing second and third place respectively. This trio demonstrates that smart financial management can go hand-in-hand with competitive football.

On the sporting side, Como stands out as the most efficient sports department, delivering maximum results relative to their available resources. Napoli, fresh off their Scudetto-winning campaign, ranks third in this category, while runners-up Inter Milan sits surprisingly at 14th. At the other end of the spectrum, Parma struggled the most, failing to turn their financial investments into on-pitch success. Under Cristian Chivu, they narrowly avoided relegation on the final matchday last season, but have since steadied the ship under Carlos Cuesta in 2025-26.

Perhaps most intriguingly, the report identified Gian Piero Gasperini—now at Roma—as the most efficient coach in Serie A for 2024-25. His ability to select players and tactical setups that consistently delivered positive outcomes earned him top marks. On the flip side, Monza's coaching duo of Alessandro Nesta and Salvatore Bocchetti ranked lowest for team selection efficiency, with AC Milan not far behind as the second-worst in that metric.

For fans and analysts alike, this study offers a fascinating look at how financial discipline and smart coaching can shape a club's fortunes—both on the balance sheet and on the pitch.
