In a thrilling Western AA baseball showdown at Griffin Field, the Missoula Sentinel Spartans staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Glacier 9-5 on Thursday, thanks to a game-changing sixth inning that had fans on the edge of their seats.

The Spartans (9-8 overall, 6-3 in conference) came out swinging, plating three runs in the first inning. Keaton Elliott's single drove in the first run, and two more crossed home plate on a Glacier error, giving Sentinel an early 3-0 lead.

But the Wolfpack (10-6 overall, 5-4 in conference) showed their resilience, answering right back in the bottom of the first. Beau Schulz delivered an RBI single, and Max Weber followed with a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 3-2.

The momentum shifted Glacier's way as Ryne Gillette tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the second inning. Kyler Croft then gave the Wolfpack a 4-3 lead with an RBI groundout in the third, and Weber extended the advantage to 5-3 with a single in the fifth.

That's when the Spartans turned the tide. Charlie Compton sparked the rally with an RBI single to right field, making it 5-4. Then came the pivotal moment: a costly Glacier error turned into what can only be described as a "little league grand slam," allowing Sentinel to surge ahead 8-5. The Spartans added an insurance run in the seventh to seal the victory.

On the mound, Stellan Ridley delivered a solid performance for Sentinel, throwing 4 2/3 innings and allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out six. For Glacier, Schulz pitched 5 1/3 innings, giving up just two earned runs on six hits and striking out two.

Key offensive contributors included Sentinel's Keaton Elliott (3-for-4) and Owen Dale (2-for-4 with a double), while Glacier's Max Weber (2-for-3, 2 RBIs) and Beau Schulz (2-for-3) kept the Wolfpack competitive throughout.
