The honeymoon period at Aston Martin appears to be over. Just months after the arrival of legendary designer Adrian Newey—a man whose résumé reads like a who's who of championship-winning teams—the partnership with team owner Lawrence Stroll is reportedly showing signs of strain.

When Newey joined the Silverstone-based squad, the paddock buzzed with anticipation. Many believed his genius would be the catalyst to propel Aston Martin back toward the front of the grid. But early-season results have told a different story.

The AMR26 has struggled out of the blocks, plagued by issues that have left drivers and engineers scratching their heads. To make matters worse, both drivers have reported severe vibrations from the Honda power unit—though whispers from the Miami Grand Prix suggested some progress had been made in taming the problem.

While Newey's position within the organization remains secure for now, reports indicate that tensions are simmering behind the scenes. Former McLaren employee Mark Grain recently shed some light on the situation during the Two Mechanics podcast.

"I understand that the relationship at Aston Martin isn't great at the moment," Grain revealed. "And Adrian's relationship with Lawrence isn't great either. I believe that the relationship between him and Lawrence is at a pretty low point right now."

Despite the friction, Grain remains optimistic about the team's long-term prospects. "I still think that team is very strong, and it's not about one man. I think they will bounce back. They're making progress with Honda; it's just tough times for that Silverstone-based team."

As Aston Martin struggles to find its footing, the spotlight has inevitably turned to two-time world champion Fernando Alonso. The 44-year-old—who will turn 45 this year—has remained characteristically cool about his future beyond 2026.

"Sometime in the summer, I need to make a decision," Alonso told Sky Sports. "At the moment I didn't sit with myself to think about that. I never thought about it in a deep way and I need to speak with my family as well."

For a team that entered the season with such high hopes, these early bumps in the road serve as a reminder that even the best-laid plans in Formula 1 often meet unexpected twists. Whether Newey and Stroll can steer Aston Martin back on course—and whether Alonso will be part of that journey—remains one of the season's most compelling storylines.
