Manchester United are turning up the heat in their pursuit of AC Milan's towering defender Strahinja Pavlovic, according to fresh reports from Italy. The Red Devils are making defensive reinforcements a top priority this summer, even after Harry Maguire's contract extension, and they've set their sights on the Serbian powerhouse to bring more muscle and aerial dominance to the backline.

Standing at an imposing 6'4", Pavlovic has been a commanding presence since joining Milan from RB Salzburg in 2024. The 24-year-old has quickly become the leader of the Rossoneri's defense and a key figure in the dressing room at the San Siro. But don't let his size fool you—this isn't just a bruiser. Pavlovic is comfortable playing out from the back, helping progress the ball, and crucially, he's left-footed, a trait United have been eager to add to their squad. His versatility across both back three and back four systems makes him an even more attractive option.

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport reports that United are "ready to make a €50 million offer," roughly £43 million, for the defender they've identified as a key target. Pavlovic has enjoyed an "excellent season," racking up 36 appearances across all competitions and drawing comparisons to United legend Nemanja Vidic for his no-nonsense defending and leadership qualities.

While there are always question marks about players moving from Serie A to the Premier League—especially after the struggles of fellow January arrival Joshua Zirkzee—Pavlovic's physical profile and style of play seem tailor-made for English football's intensity. Milan, however, are reluctant to let him go. Financial pressures could force their hand, particularly if they miss out on Champions League football for a second consecutive season.

Currently sitting fourth in Serie A, level on points with Roma and just two ahead of Como, Massimiliano Allegri's side have two matches left: a trip to Genoa followed by a home finale against Cagliari. As Corriere dello Sport puts it, the seven-time European champions have "two games to prevent" Pavlovic from leaving this summer. For United fans, the race is on—and the Red Devils are ready to win it.
