Watford's head coach Ed Still is under no illusions about the pressure he faces. Following what he termed a necessary "reset" after a disappointing defeat to Oxford United, Still has made it clear that results must improve—and quickly. "I'm very down to earth," he stated. "There's been a lot of talking... and now we've got to deliver."

Since his appointment in February, the Hornets have managed just three wins in 11 matches, a run that has effectively dashed their Championship play-off hopes. The recent 3-1 victory over Wrexham stands as their only win in the last seven outings, leaving the team languishing in 12th place, 11 points adrift of the top six.

Still described the performance in the Oxford loss as "fragile" and "weak," acknowledging the broader context of a squad that has seen immense turnover. He is the 14th different head coach at Vicarage Road since September 2019, a statistic that highlights the instability the club has endured.

This week has been pivotal, with the coaching staff holding frank discussions with the squad. "We've had to set everything straight again," Still explained, emphasizing that the time for "excuses or explanations" is over. The message to the players on what is required has been made "very clear." For Watford, the final stretch of the season is now about building a foundation of resilience and performance for the future.
