The final Ohio High School Softball Coaches poll of the season is out, and two Miami Valley powerhouses are finishing exactly where they started: on top.
Kenton Ridge and Tri-Village have both secured the No. 1 spots in their respective divisions, capping off dominant seasons that have fans buzzing. The poll, released Monday, highlights the depth of talent in the Miami Valley, with seven local teams landing in the top five of their divisions.
Kenton Ridge (25-0) came within a single first-place vote of being a unanimous No. 1 selection in Division IV. The only other first-place nod went to Licking Valley, which remains undefeated as well. It's a classic showdown of unbeatens, and Kenton Ridge's perfect record speaks to their relentless play all spring.
In Division VI, Tri-Village (17-4) earned seven of the 12 first-place votes to claim the top spot. Their consistency throughout the season has been a key factor, and they'll carry that momentum into the postseason.
Other area teams making strong showings in the top five include No. 3 Centerville (20-6) and No. 5 Lakota East (20-5) in Division I, No. 2 Greenville (24-1) in Division III, and No. 3 Shawnee (24-3) along with No. 4 Miami East (19-4) in Division V.
Additional Miami Valley squads earning recognition in the final rankings are No. 10 Lebanon (17-8) in Division I, No. 10 Troy (23-2) in Division II, No. 6 Talawanda (20-4) and No. 8 Badin (24-2) in Division III, and No. 6 Southeastern in Division VI.
With district tournament play already underway since Monday, May 11, these rankings set the stage for what promises to be an exciting postseason.
