Manchester United appears to be closing in on a decision for their next permanent head coach, and the winds of change at Old Trafford are blowing in an exciting direction.

After Ruben Amorim's disappointing tenure ended with the Red Devils stuck in sixth place—11 points adrift of third-placed Aston Villa—the club's hierarchy was bracing for a Europa League finish. But caretaker boss Michael Carrick had other plans, sparking a remarkable turnaround that has transformed the season.

Carrick burst onto the scene like a breath of fresh air, securing statement wins over Manchester City and Arsenal in his first two matches. While performances have leveled off since, the results have kept rolling in. United now sit third in the table and have already secured Champions League football with four games remaining—a stunning reversal of fortunes.

The former United midfielder has earned praise for playing players in their natural positions and revitalizing forgotten stars. It's no wonder the club's co-owners are seriously considering handing him the job permanently.

But Carrick hasn't done it alone. His backroom team, especially assistant head coach Steve Holland, has been instrumental in the revival. The former England and Chelsea assistant brings a wealth of experience in handling the pressure that comes with managing a club of this magnitude. His impact has been particularly visible in United's newfound defensive solidity, and players have been impressed by his coaching sessions.

According to insider Sully, INEOS plans to reward both men. "As reported, Carrick is expected to be offered the head coach role. Steve Holland is also expected to be offered a new deal with him," Sully wrote on X. "Holland has impressed internally and been pivotal to the results in the past months. He planned to stay 6 months but MUFC want him to stay longer."

Having a seasoned tactician like Holland alongside him could be the perfect foundation for Carrick's long-term success at the Theatre of Dreams. If the duo can forge a lasting partnership, United fans might just be witnessing the start of something special.
