Stefon Diggs was cleared of strangulation and assault charges related to a Dec. 2 confrontation between him and his former live-in chef.

In a decision that could reshape his football future, star wide receiver Stefon Diggs was found not guilty Tuesday of strangulation and assault charges stemming from a December incident with his former live-in personal chef. The verdict came after a two-day trial in Dedham, Massachusetts, with a jury deliberating just 90 minutes before clearing the 32-year-old.

The case centered on allegations from Jamila Adams, who accused Diggs of slapping and choking her during an argument on December 2, 2025. Diggs faced one felony count of strangulation and one misdemeanor count of assault—charges that carried serious implications for both his personal life and his NFL career, especially after his recent stint with the New England Patriots.

Diggs' legal team built their defense around challenging Adams' credibility, arguing her claims were more about financial disputes and the nature of their relationship than any actual assault. "This never happened," his attorneys maintained throughout the trial.

Prosecutors, however, painted a different picture. Assistant District Attorney Drew Virtue described a power imbalance in the relationship, calling Diggs "a sometimes lover, a boss, landlord" to Adams. "He was an athlete, a celebrity, financially powerful, surrounded by people that were all on his payroll that liked him," Virtue told the court. "And when you put that all in consideration, her behavior does make sense."

Adams, who first connected with Diggs in 2022, alleged the confrontation occurred during an argument at his residence. The verdict now clears the path for Diggs to focus on his football future, with teams likely monitoring the legal outcome as they evaluate potential roster moves for the 2026 season and beyond.
