The courtroom drama surrounding NFL star Stefon Diggs took an unexpected turn on Day 1 of his trial, as his accuser revealed a previously undisclosed intimate connection between the two. Jamila "Mila" Adams, who served as Diggs' personal chef, testified that their relationship went far beyond a professional arrangement—it was sexual in nature.

Adams alleges that Diggs assaulted her after she confronted him about unpaid wages. However, Diggs' attorney, Andrew Kettlewell, painted a very different picture, stating flatly to jurors, "The assault that the Commonwealth described in their opening statement never happened. It did not happen."

Taking the stand in a Massachusetts courtroom, Adams described her bond with the Houston Texans wide receiver as "complicated." She explained, "It started out as friends. We met, it became sexual, and we would meet up, hang out, and we decided I would come work for him around February 2025."

The defense, however, suggested a motive behind the accusations. Kettlewell argued that Adams was "seething" after being excluded from a trip to Miami—a snub he claims stemmed from a personal conflict between Adams and one of Diggs' associates. According to the defense, it was this perceived slight that sparked the alleged incident.

Adams' testimony detailed a violent encounter. She claimed Diggs slapped her across the face and then escalated the attack. "When I went up to push his hand, to block him, he took his arm and came around my neck, gripping with his elbow around my neck, and began to choke me—pressure on my neck with his elbow," she recounted.

But the defense countered with visual evidence. A video shown to the jury, as reported by Boston's WCVB-TV, captured Adams dancing and appearing to enjoy herself just days after the alleged assault—a detail that raises questions about the timeline and severity of the incident.

As the trial unfolds, this case serves as a reminder that the lives of professional athletes often extend far beyond the gridiron, with personal relationships and legal battles that can shape their careers and public image.
