Stefon Diggs' trial entered its second day on Tuesday, with the former chef of the NFL wide receiver continuing her testimony under cross-examination in Norfolk County District Court. The case, which has drawn significant attention in the sports world, centers on allegations that Diggs assaulted Jamila "Mila" Adams at his Dedham, Massachusetts home on December 2, 2025.
During the opening day of arguments, prosecutors claimed Diggs attacked Adams, who had been living with him as his personal chef. Adams testified that Diggs entered her bedroom and "smacked me with an open hand," then allegedly wrapped his arm around her neck, making it difficult for her to breathe. The incident reportedly occurred after a dispute about her compensation.
The defense, however, has pushed back firmly. In his opening statement, Diggs' attorney argued that no witnesses corroborated the alleged assault and pointed to a lack of medical records supporting Adams' claims. During cross-examination, the defense presented video evidence showing Adams visiting New York shortly after the incident, smiling and dancing in the clips—a move intended to challenge the severity of her accusations.
According to the police report, obtained by USA TODAY Network, Adams initially did not press charges after the December 16 filing. She changed her mind a week later, leading to formal charges against Diggs on December 29. Lawyers have questioned Adams about this delay, probing her motivations for coming forward.
Diggs has pleaded not guilty to both charges: felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery. It remains unclear whether he will testify in his own defense. Pro Football Talk noted that Adams' responses during cross-examination sometimes included extraneous details, prompting Judge Jeanmarie Carroll to instruct jurors to disregard portions of her testimony on multiple occasions.
The defense has also suggested a financial motive, with evidence that Adams sought compensation starting at $19,000. As the trial unfolds, jurors—selected on Monday—will weigh these conflicting narratives in a case that has captivated the NFL community.
