The Pittsburgh Steelers have done it again—adding another tight end to their ever-growing collection. In a move that surprises absolutely no one, the team announced the signing of Jaheim Bell on Monday, continuing their tradition of stockpiling talent at the position.
Bell, a 24-year-old who turns 25 on June 14, brings a mix of experience from three different NFL stops. Most recently, he was with the Philadelphia Eagles, but they waived him last week, sending him into free agency and straight to Pittsburgh's waiting arms.
Originally a seventh-round pick by the New England Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft, Bell split his college career between South Carolina and Florida State before turning pro. At 6-foot-2 and 241 pounds, he has the build to be a versatile option in the passing game and on special teams.
His regular-season NFL action came exclusively in 2024, where he suited up for 15 games with the Patriots and caught two passes for 20 yards. The Patriots kept him through the 2025 preseason but released him in August. After a brief stint on the Eagles' practice squad in October 2025—lasting just a week—Bell landed with the Steelers in late December on their practice squad before being cut in mid-January.
The Eagles then signed Bell to a futures contract soon after, but waived him about three months later, setting the stage for his return to Pittsburgh. Now back with the Steelers, Bell will have the entire offseason to make a strong impression and carve out a role in a tight end room that the team clearly values deeply.
For a franchise that can't seem to have enough tight ends, this signing feels like business as usual. The question now is whether Bell can turn this opportunity into a lasting spot on the roster.
