The Pittsburgh Steelers go with back-to-back defenders in the sixth and seventh rounds, respectively. After selecting Notre Dame defensive lineman Gabriel Rubio in the sixth round, the Steelers selected Oklahoma safety Robert Spears-Jennings in the seventh round with the 224th overall pick.
Spears-Jennings specializes as a box safety, as he was tremendous against the run, leading the SEC with four forced fumbles in 2024. He finished his collegiate career with 178 tackles, eight tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, and two interceptions.
Spears-Jennings joins Daylen Everette as the second defensive back of the Steelers’ draft class.
