Following the UFA tender news, the Pittsburgh Steelers received some great news regarding Aaron Rodgers' timeline from NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

The Pittsburgh Steelers just received some promising news regarding Aaron Rodgers, and it couldn't come at a better time. With OTAs now less than two weeks away, the situation around the veteran quarterback is starting to look a lot clearer.

When the Steelers placed a rare unrestricted free agent tender on Rodgers, it raised a few eyebrows around the league. Some fans wondered if there was trouble brewing between the team and their star signal-caller. But according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, there's no reason to hit the panic button.

Appearing on The Rich Eisen Show, Pelissero explained that the UFA tender was simply a smart business move — not a sign of any rift. "Nobody believes that's the direction this is going," he said of the possibility that Rodgers might sign elsewhere. "You can have injuries happen some place else that change the dynamics. The Steelers are just protecting themselves because why would you not in this particular case?"

Pelissero went on to highlight July 22 as a key date — that's when the Steelers would own exclusive rights to Rodgers for the entire season. But more importantly, he circled May 18 — the first day of OTAs — as the date fans should really watch. "Everybody anticipates his decision is coming sooner than later," he added.

This timeline is huge for the Steelers, who waited on Rodgers until June 2025 and were rewarded with a vintage performance. Last season, the veteran quarterback threw for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns while giving up just seven interceptions — proof that he can still play at an elite level.

Getting Rodgers back in time for OTAs would be a massive boost, especially with two young, unproven quarterbacks currently on the roster. It could also force the team to make some tough decisions about Mason Rudolph's future in Pittsburgh.

For now, Steelers fans can breathe easy. The Rodgers era appears to be rolling forward, and the team is doing everything right to protect its investment.
