The Pittsburgh Steelers have been handed a dose of disrespect in the latest NFL power rankings, dropping two spots despite what many analysts called a promising draft class. After months of roster building and a draft that addressed needs across offense, defense, and special teams, the Steel City faithful might be scratching their heads.
NFL.com's Eric Edholm released updated power rankings following the 2026 NFL Draft, sliding the Steelers from No. 13 to No. 15. That's a tough pill to swallow for a team that added intriguing talent like first-rounder Max Iheanachor and third-round quarterback Drew Allar. Edholm praised the draft overall but pointed to those two picks as his biggest question marks. "I can make a case for nearly every pick they made," Edholm wrote, "but I felt like the Steelers could have maneuvered up better, either for another tackle or a receiver."
The uncertainty around Aaron Rodgers' looming decision doesn't help. While reports still suggest the veteran quarterback is expected to join Pittsburgh in 2026, the waiting game continues. "Now we wait for Aaron Rodgers' decision. Again," Edholm added, hinting at the ongoing saga that could reshape the Steelers' outlook.
Still, it's worth noting that some teams ranked above Pittsburgh didn't have nearly as productive an offseason. The Steelers landed early-contributor candidates like wide receiver Germie Bernard and guard Gennings Dunker, plus several intriguing Day 3 selections. For a franchise built on grit and proving doubters wrong, this slight might just be the fuel they need heading into 2026.
