The Pittsburgh Steelers have added another linebacker to their rookie minicamp roster, bringing back a familiar face for a tryout. Linebacker Jacoby Windmon is joining the team this weekend, as first reported by Penn Live's Nick Farabaugh.

Windmon, a hard-hitting defender who originally signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State in 2024, is no stranger to Pittsburgh. After impressing during the preseason, he was initially signed to the team's practice squad but was later poached by the Carolina Panthers. That set off a whirlwind journey: he was released by the Panthers in 2025, re-signed with the Steelers' practice squad, released again, and then returned to Carolina's practice squad in November before being waived on May 7, 2026.

Now, at just 24 years old, Windmon is back in the Steel City with a chance to make it a third stint with the team. Over his nine career NFL games—including one start, all with the Panthers—he has racked up 22 combined tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two passes defended.

For Steelers fans, this is a classic example of the team's "next man up" mentality during rookie minicamp, where every opportunity is a chance to prove yourself. Windmon's aggressive style and familiarity with the system could give him an edge as he tries to earn a spot on the roster. Whether he sticks this time remains to be seen, but the Steelers are clearly keeping their options open at the linebacker position.
