Storm Stacey made a thunderous entrance onto the North West 200 stage, securing a stunning double victory on his debut at the legendary road racing event. The 23-year-old British Superbike standout piloted his BMW to glory in both the Superstock race and the second Superbike event, marking himself as a force to be reckoned with on the Triangle circuit.
In the Superstock race, Stacey outpaced the seasoned Michael Dunlop, showcasing the poise and speed that have made him a rising star. He followed that up with a dramatic Superbike win, after the race was cut short by red flags on lap three due to an oil spill on the coast road section. The result was declared early, with Stacey taking the top spot, while Dean Harrison and Glenn Irwin rounded out the podium in second and third.
But Stacey wasn't the only headline-maker. Glenn Irwin added another chapter to his storied North West 200 career by winning Superbike race one, bringing his total tally of Superbike victories at the event to an impressive 12. The Northern Irishman, riding a Nitrous Competitions Ducati, held off a fierce challenge from Harrison, winning by just 0.18 seconds. Michael Dunlop finished third, 14.4 seconds back, as Irwin dominated most of the race with a blistering fastest lap of 124.997 mph.
Elsewhere, Michael Dunlop secured the Supersport win, while Peter Hickman and Jeremy McWilliams took the spoils in the Supertwin and Sportbike races, respectively. The day was a showcase of talent, with Stacey's debut double stealing the spotlight—he even shattered the previous best lap record for a newcomer at the event, clocking in at 123.725 mph. For fans of road racing, this was a day that blended tradition with the thrill of new champions rising.
