The St. Xavier volleyball team is riding an incredible wave of momentum as they head into the KHSAA state tournament—boasting a jaw-dropping 57-match win streak. This powerhouse squad, undefeated at 26-0 this season, is set to host Paul Dunbar on Monday at 7 p.m. in the first round, and they're looking every bit the heavy favorite.

This kind of dominance doesn't happen overnight. St. Xavier has a rich volleyball tradition, starting their club program back in 1992 and racking up 22 state titles since. They've won three straight championships and 10 of the last 11, proving they're a dynasty in the making. Last season, they capped off an impressive run by beating Henry Clay for the title, and they've only lost two sets all year—talk about a team firing on all cylinders!

Leading the charge is senior Briley Codey, who's already been named Kentucky's Mr. Volleyball. With 269 kills this season, she's a force at the net and a key reason why this team is so tough to stop. But it's not just about one player—this team has depth, chemistry, and a winning mentality that's hard to match.

The tournament action heats up even more after Monday's first round. Quarterfinals are set for Friday at George Rogers Clark High School, with matches at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Then on Saturday, the semifinals kick off at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., leading to the championship match at 7:30 p.m. It's a packed schedule full of high-stakes volleyball.

St. Xavier isn't the only Louisville-area team making noise. Seven local squads have punched their tickets, including Trinity, Oldham County, Fern Creek, Iroquois, DeSales, and North Bullitt. That's a strong showing for the region and sets up some exciting matchups down the road.

For fans of the game—and especially those who love seeing a team in top form—this is must-watch action. Whether you're cheering on the Tigers or pulling for an underdog, the KHSAA state tournament promises plenty of drama, athleticism, and heart. And who knows? You might just see the next great volleyball stars making their mark on the court!
